Choroboros

Reference manual for Choroboros: setup, engines, Create, and troubleshooting. The product overview and pricing live at /choroboros.

StatusThe macOS installer includes AU, VST3, AAX, and the standalone app. Green and Purple work without a key. An active 30-day trial or paid licence unlocks all five factory engines and Create.

Install and start playing

Download the macOS installer, open the package, and follow the installation prompts. macOS may ask for an administrator password or Touch ID.
Restart your DAW and let it scan for plug-ins. Use AU in Logic Pro, AAX in Pro Tools, or a format your host supports. Insert Choroboros on an audio track.
Start playback. Green and Purple are available without signing up. The standalone app needs an audio input; it is an effect, not a sound generator.
For the full trial, follow the signup link on the download page, verify your email, and enter the trial key in Choroboros’s registration window.

Trial and licence

The 30-day trial starts on first activation. Connect at least every 72 hours to renew trial access. After the trial ends, Green and Purple remain free; a paid licence unlocks the full product. Keep your key private.

Main controls

Rate: modulation speed, shown in Hz.
Depth: modulation amount. Reducing Depth is not the same as bypassing the effect.
Offset: modulation phase offset, shown in degrees.
Width: stereo width.
Color: the selected engine’s character control; its meaning changes with the engine and core.
Mix: dry/wet blend.
Core / HQ switch: switches sound cores. The unlit state is still a processing state, not bypass.
Trim: output level adjustment.

For an A/B comparison, use the DAW’s plug-in bypass and match perceived loudness. For a wet-only send effect, use a fully wet Mix setting and blend with the original in your DAW.

If something is not working

If the plug-in is missing, confirm that installation finished, restart the DAW, and check its plug-in manager for the format you installed. If there is no sound, check track routing, bypass, and input playback. For trial access, check your internet connection and the status shown in Choroboros.
